Once again the tabloids are presenting gossip as fact. I've even looked at their posting of your reply to the above article and what they did is to present THEIR version and interpretation first without presenting your version first. This just biases the reader immediately before reading your letter.

I used to be a big fan of explorersweb but their coverage of this incident is just wrong and hurtful. Besides, some of us who have been fortunate enough in our dealings with Harry know that he is thorough, considerate of his clients/climbing parteners and professional.

Everest must've looked pretty scary from behind Explorersweb's Editor's desk

    Hi Harry,
How sad to see such drivel,my experiences of yourself and Thomas were that you acted as a team with a mutual goal, you are both adults and knew the risk involved as we all did.Im sure you did all that you could when required , but at 8800mts you must be almost self sufficient and unfortunatly Thomas with his dissability was not capable of this, there is only so much you can do!
Dont let this get you down, after all Thomas chose YOU to guide him,not vise versa.
The seven summit team were in general a proffessional, helpful, friendly bunch,i would not hesitate to recomend them or go on other expeditions with them.
Hi Harry-
I just responded to your email. I am sorry to read all of this. As we all know from previous experience, gossip is the best way to describe the reporting going on. As I said in my previous email, people love you for who you are. And, only the people who know you, know that you are a great person and would do anything for team mates and clients. I will definately travel again with you in the mountains whether client, team mate or friend, and continue on our dream of having a drink on the 7 continents- 3 down, 4 to go... Keep your head up.
Your friend, Jamie the Capialist Pig

Harry I am glad you responded the way you did. I guess there will always be those with a point of view based on spite or hurtfulness. I meant what I said about going anywhere in the world with 7summits. Keep your head up and know that there are many who appreciate someone who is REAL rather than those who speak out of ignorance and spite.

Thanks Bill, Kevin, MC & MJ, I appreciate it much. There are so many untrue and inconsistent things to point out in this terrible and totaly unprofessional article, but I do not want to be like the so-called 'witnesses' and hurt their reputation if it can be avoided. As I wrote to Jamie (who supported me in a mail to ME.net):
"I have nothing to hide, but frankly am getting tired of this as there are no winners in this debate, only more and more losers."

Interesting to see that ME.net still not has published this reply, which was sent over 72 hours ago (within a few hours after they mailed me), leaving the article full of lies on the homepage for a few days, wonder what their motives are.
Best regards,
Bill
MountEverest.net was actually formed by an expedition that climbed Everest in 1999. The ExWeb team has climbed "E" with independent groups for 4 years. See this link on MountEverest.net: the dream.
http://www.mounteverest.net/expguide/dream.htm
But I am disappointed, just like you, that this story was printed without letting Harry state the facts. It is just wrong.
I read your post on 7summits.com that said you want to make an attempt to climb Everest again next year. I hope you will get the money needed. Good luck. MC

    Harry
I read the article last night, probably right after it was published, and I was shocked. It was clear to me that you had not been contacted or allowed to respond to questions before the story was printed for all the world to see. The so called facts that MountEverest.net printed did not make sense to me and I believe with all my heart that you did all you could to save Thomas' life. Now your name has been hurt and Thomas's family and friends are having to relive this terrible tragedy and question what actually happened on the mountain.
The truth will prevail and remember that you have a lot of support. You know I will be climbing Kili with 7summits.com next year.
Somehow this will make you stronger, Harry, I am just sorry you are having to go through this. And I am so sad that a great man like Thomas had to die living his dream. But he died living the dream that he wanted...to summit Everest.
Sincerely, MC

    Hi Bill,

Good to hear your thoughts on the website...

I would have Harry on my rope on any mountain..

Thomas was a great guy with alot of experience and new exactly what he was doing and letting himself in for..

He fully trusted and respected Harrys leadership qualities to the very end as many of us do..

Harry, Not surprised something this would happen. It is really weird that people who have never climbed any mountains but have websites that provide news about mountains have opinions about what happens there. That is about the "height" of foolishness.
Thanks a lot, Harry, for your detailed account of what happened on that tragic day. It was heartbreaking to read this story, but I think it is quite important for all of us to get first-hand information, to avoid misinterpretation and speculation. I know how all the current media debates might be hurting you, adding insult to injury. At the same time, I think, it would be wrong to silence the issues around Everest. Take care of yourself and have a safe trip home.
